Years ago, I was introduced to the game and was intrigued by the fun everyone was having. Then, after barely mastering the basics in a beginners class, I realized how much there was to learn. But the learning is a big part of the fun.
Fast forward. Today, it's bridge every week! There's no end to the respect I have for the players around me. Constantly challenged, but always encouraged, I'm grateful for my fellow bridge lovers!
Bridge is a classic card game played with a 52-card deck by four players in two partnerships.
The combination of strategy, memory and teamwork make it both mentally stimulating and a lot of fun socially.
Each hand is played in two parts: the bidding phase, where players determine the contract (how many tricks a team aims to win), and the play phase, where players try to fulfill or defeat that contract.
No two hands are ever the same, and you rely not only on card knowledge, rules and conventions, but also on psychology, communication and timing. It's the complexity of the game that makes it so much fun!
